It’s almost time to celebrate our first #picbookbc chat birthday!

To celebrate we’re talking all things Australian Animals with our special guest Jackie French!march

Jackie French is an Australian author, historian,  ecologist  and honourary wombat (part time), 2014-2015 Australian Children’ Laureate and 2015 Senior Australian of the Year.

She is probably most known within the picture book community for writing the Diary of a Wombat series but besides picture books about wombats she has written about lots of other lovable Australian animals and Australian history and events, and and has most recently written Koala Bare with illustrations by Matt Shanks.

Along with Bruce Whatley she also shared the beautifully told yet poignant stories found within the books of the Natural Disaster series which share the stories many of us have experienced or  grown up hearing on the news as a part of life in Australia.

And so you can get prepared for the chat, here are the chat questions for Thursday night!

Q1. What is your favourite picture book featuring an Australian animal/s ?! Share a pic!
Q2. Why is it important to talk about endangered Australian animals and animal conservation in picture books?
Q3. Do you think Picture books with Australian Animals have worldwide appeal? And why?
Q4. If you could choose an Australian animal to be in your picture book.. what would you choose and why?

There will also be plenty of time at the end to ask the delightful Jackie French your questions so come prepared!

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday night the 8th March at 8pm AEST for another #Picbookbc Twitter chat! Remember to check your times too as we’re still in daylight savings time!
