How a month flies! It’s almost time for another #picbookbc chat and this month we’re exploring the theme “Face Your Fears” with special guest Anna Walker!

Anna Walker writes and illustrates stories for children and is based in Melbourne. Her imagery is inspired by tiny details in the world around her which is evident in her extraordinarily detailed illustrations which bring her stories to life.

Anna is probably best known for her award winning books Mr Huff, awarded the 2016 CBCA Book of the Year for Early Childhood, and Florette which was shortlisted in the 2018 CBCA awards for Picture Book of the Year and won the 2018 Wilderness Society Environment Award for Children’s Literature. She has also created a number of incredible books with Jane Godwin such as Little Cat and Big Red Bus and more recently Go Go and the Silver Shoes.

Her next book, Lottie and Walter is sure to be another fan favourite and is due out today. Happy publication day Anna! Be sure to keep an eye out for it at local libraries and bookstores!

Now have no fear, here are the chat questions for our Face your Fears themed #picbookbc chat!

Q1. What’s your favourite picture book about facing fears? Share a photo!

Q2. How can picture books help readers to be brave and face their fears?

Q3. Diverse books that reflect and honour the lives of all young people are so important. Share a picture book that addresses the fear of ‘being different’. (Be sure to include the hashtag #WeNeedDiverseBooks in your answers if you can!)

Q4. In Lottie and Walter, Lottie has a ‘secret flippered companion’ that helped her face her fears. What/who would you choose as your secret companion and why?

Also there will be plenty of time to be brave and ask our guest Anna Walker lots of questions! Woohoo!

We look forward to partying with you ‘picture book’ style on Thursday night the 7th of March at 8pm AEST(QLD Time) for another #Picbookbc Twitter chat!

If you haven’t joined one of our chats before and wondering how it works head on over to our Welcome to the #picbookbc Twitter chat post!
